My sister came for a visit in July, and while she was here we had the opportunity
to see an exhibition of Downton Abbey clothing.
The exhibition is currently at Cheekwood in Nashville and will be there until
September 10, 2017
The details in the clothing were beyond what I would have
ever dreamed up. SO stunning...gorgeous.
My sister and I actually went through a second time just to make sure
we saw all the details!
One item that inspired me was a necklace that Lady Sybil wore with this maternity dress.
The beading is simple, but the necklace is a perfect reference
from the era.
I made my own interpretation of the necklace. The beads on the necklace from the exhibit
are more uniform and probably more appropriate for the era, but
I'm pleased with how mine turned out.
It will pair nicely with a tunic style sweater this fall.
I especially love the colors I found for mine.
Cheekwood also offered a class on hat making.
I was so excited!
It was taught by Anna Zeitlin who is the talent behind the
Fanny and June brand.
She was a sweet and wonderful teacher.
The hat to your left (camel color) was the sample I fell in love with.
The green one is the one I made. I still need to put flowers on it, but I am so pleased
with how it came out. I'll post pictures when I get it all trimmed.
How do you get inspired? What inspires you?
I see ideas almost everywhere I go. It's fun to put my own spin on the things that I like.
